first vinyl pressing of twin infinitives since the original vinyl issue in 1990. after moving to san francisco, royal trux released the highly experimental double album twin infinitives. this album remains an extreme work on the periphery of rock music, worthy of being compared to lou reeds metal machine music and suicides debut album. at only four subdivided tracks, none of which clock in under 15 minutes, the record has plenty of time to weave a mesmerizing web that is sometimes menacing, sometimes startling. for all of its high brow allusions, twin infinitives nearly reeks of vice, a dark, sordid feel pervades the record, and the listener can almost picture the band recording in a filthy apartment in the middle of the night in various states of intoxication and debauchery.

claremont 56 releases its first smith & mudd 7inch in a limited edition of series of four (a-d). side a sees smith & mudd at their best, a pure feel good track that puts you in a life affirming mood and gets the feet moving. side b takes it a bit deeper with the acoustic guitar backing a wooden flute solo. these are extremely limited and these are 250 copies only for the world. breath taking!

groovebox ep is filled with some class a material for the raunchy dancefloor. first up there is into the club. this track is typical for channel x: it will blow off the roof in the club! as the title of the track already suggests, this is another one of channel xs lengthy journeys into nightlife extravaganzas. a wonderful fidgety bassline and a loop filled with loads of soulful vocal samples from strong male leads to sensitive female souls, this tune is both deep, touchful and destroying. the chainsaw effect session in the middle paves the way for more stomping tech-house business. no time to recover from this, because on the flip its straight onto the floor with wake up: a loop thats made of trillions of little cut-up effects, vocal bits and some straight four to the floor business. after a playful beginning the tune moves into an hypnotic piece of trippy techno only to be converted into a restless party anthem for the Überpeak-time. sick! perhaps there is some time to chill with the last of the three tracks that is against the wall. here it becomes clear what channel x are best at: to create dark, hard and moving electronic music with that special ingredient that is soul. this track is a perfect example: some frightening effects, lots of reverb on the creepy samples, but such a wonderfully harmonic sample that seems to shed light at the end of the never-ending afterhour. if there is a message to this music, it would be: you need to look hard, but there is always love. once again label boss oliver koletzki has picked up these two very talented producers very early upon their career and it has paid off: in one release being better than the one before

transmissions florales is massis first vinyl release. the density of the 808 drums reminds us this is synthetic from the start. but as the the swirling, phasing 7th chords and the crystal-like lead tones build up and blend with the laid-back wah-wah guitars, this simple song take us to some sensual, forgotten place with swaying limbs and flashing lights. with a few changes in structure and the timbre of the bass, the acid mix proposes an alternate scenario - gliding to the edge of madness with a wink at raving in the late 80s. are we in the disco? or at the seashore? keep on moving, keep on flying. bionic gulls call to each other over the oceans arpeggios. >alpha base< uses a similar synth palette, but with quite different results. rather than waves, this piece seems to evoke dramatic weather over a jagged terrain. the funky, syncopated bass and percussion remind us of some ancient tribal ceremony on parched soil. odd sound effects imitate the heat and sudden shots of lightning, while the ascending pentatonic breaks suggest a primitive electronic geisha, draped in mylar foil, deflecting the suns rays as she dances for the gods. she performs an intricate sequence of steps, each with its own placement and hidden meaning… having spent the past 2 years entertaining crowds at underground clubs in berlin and around the eu, massi is already somewhat known to those who enjoy dancing to whatever is eclectic, energetic, and atmospheric. now, perhaps more people will hear his special groove. we hope you share our joy, our obsession… and the particular oscillations from this very personal >transmission florale<

kindisch is now eighteen releases old, and its mission - to uncover new talent, and to provide a platform for producers to evolve and experiment - is more passionate than ever. this time, the reins are handed to sascha braemer, aka hirtenfellner, and philip bader, who build on the promise of their releases on sup dub and get physical. >mamba drums< is, as its name suggests, a percussive, latin-tinged affair, with sweeping builds and heavy drops, layer upon layer of locomotive percussion and a skeletal four-note vamp designed to whip the listener into a state of frenzy (and sure to be successful in this aim!). a male vocal sample pervades on >thrill<, this time more gruff, more laconic, and edited so that the words become another percussive element rather than carriers of meaning. deep whirlpools of delay open up below a surface drift of jazz-tinged chords, from a minimalist sound palette bader and braemer paint a vastly evocative, effusive picture that will transport the listener, or dancefloor, to a strange and addictive place. >put your arms around me<, implores the soul-infused vocal sample on b >around<, over a yawning vista of synth chords bridged with sibiliant snares and subtle but earth-moving edits that leave no doubt as to braemer and baders mastery of dancefloor dynamics.

these hand-picked tracks are now available on a dj-friendly 2-sided-4-tracks-vinyl-ep and let me tell you, they are well worth the extra investment. the first of the bunch starts off with big man lexys fancy girl, an ever-growing minimal techy peak-time-pusher with a hushed vocal-sample, some anaologue signal sounds and a futuristic and pumping beat. add a great distorted melody to this on the breakdown and the dancefloor will thank you for putting this on: they will go mental! after this introduction, its the newcomers mickey monzza & joseph discos turn with their equally stimulating track lonely. this is a great modern piece of pumping dub techno with a straight-forward attitude. the hi-hats on this tune are mesmerezing, the clappy snares and sirens perfectly placed and the subtle dubby and groovy melody an ideal antithesis to this hectically moving tune. simply nice! but hold on, there is more to come. on the flip there is hamburgs house impressario h.o.s.h. with his track ben johnson and whether this title is a reference to the legendary sportsman or not, its a pretty record-worthy track: wonderful little stabs and vocal sounds and a bassline so warm and groovy it makes your heart melt. then when the breakdown hits you with its long and winding signal sound, the dancefloor will already be bathing in a floor filled with sweet happiness. this is truely delicious! the two newcomers and residents at hive club in zurich animaltrainer have the honour to finish off this ep with their oily tech-house-anthem talkshow, a superb main-floor-peak-time-melody-affair.

moving away from the multi artist approach of the previous 7 releases, ir-008 sees jason brunton take a more direct approach to the dancefloor with this straight up techno workout. stabbing chords run amok over a xxl moroder-esque bassline-hints of basic channel, carl craig and the shuffling rhythms all combining to create something both fresh and familiar at the same time. since his initial outings on headpace and iridite many years ago, marco bernardis career has went from strength to strength with a string of releases on glasgows soma records and a fruitfull relationship with the dutch masters clone- here he takes mixed metaphors in a new direction- crazed synthetic vocals combine with ice cold strings and electro beats worthy of any aux 88 or kraftwerk release! rei loci turns in a superb reworking, moving into deeper realms and coming off like early robert hood crashing into maurzios back yard!

side a brings the original sound of chicago acid sharply back into focus, subtly reusing the elements that made those records so special whilst bringing the sound up to date with modern production techniques and banging drums whilst maintaining the wigged out alien sounds of the time- for fans of everyone from todd n tadd to eddie fowlkes to sleep archive. the flip side brings a truly amazing track from rei loci again- playing with all manner of spaced out fx laden elements, and underpinned by the subtle interplay between machines- dreamlike, deep, intense and epic in all the right sense of those words this track sees rei moving into a more mature and complete phase in his production

the chaps at off-key hq have been busy digging out the old dat tapes from their attic and sorting out the wheat from the chaff. for this release they go way back to bring you four more tracks courtesy of kimble, a collaboration between matt o brien and matt gates (aka minor planets). kicking things off is the beatless sketch of >lycius<, spiky alien synths flicker and pierce through detached ethereal pads moving in the surrounding weightless space. next up is the ep s lynchpin track, >state of shock<. proper techno is the order of the day here, this is an authentic old school minimal track first recorded in 1996 but left gathering dust ever since. immerse yourself in the subtle dub inflected melodies swirling in your womb bubble while the slamming rhythm track provides the heartbeat. over on the flip we chill things out with the haunting strings and aquatic bassline of >amb<, providing a delicate counterpoint to the upfront style of the a side. the ep is completed with a stunning remix of >state of shock< by minor planets, who layer on a towering bassline and transform the original into a laid back dub workout.
